Bookings are for nights spent at the cottage, and we ask you to arrive after 4.00pm on your first day and to leave by 11.00am on the morning after your last night. The changeover day for weekly bookings is Friday, but we are flexible. Again, please arrive from 4.00pm, Friday and leave by 11.00am, the following Friday. Please keep to these times, as the interim is used to clean the cottage for the next visitors.

Please . . .

  • Do not smoke in the cottage.
  • Take care indoors, as the doorways are low and the staircase is steep and has no handrail.

           Christmas and New year breaks are flexible, if uoi book well in advance. The rates in both cases apply to any week that includes, respectively, Christmas or New Year's Eve.

Short breaks are available where indicated above. Breaks of 2-3 days are chargeable at 60% of the weekly rate; 4-day breaks at 80%; 5-6 day breaks at the full weekly rate.

All linen and bedlinen, towels, electricity and heating are included in the price, as is Broadband (bring your own laptop). You will also find coffee, tea, sugar, biscuits and milk as well as a few store cupboard basics such as rice, oils, jams, some tins, sauces and spices. If these run out, please replace them. There will be a free basket of logs and kindling in the inglenook. More logs, kindling and firelighters are available at no extra charge.

From the South West

  • Take the M5, turnng off at Junction 9 for Tewkesbury and Evesham. Take the A46, following the signs to Evesham. At the Evesham roundabout, take the second exit for Stratford and the North. 
  • Continue on the A46 as it winds and turns until you see the Bidford sign for the B439 into the village (3rd exit). Then, at the village  roundabout, take the third exit over the bridge on to the B4085. 
  • Turn right into Marlcliff at the first crossroads. In Marlcliff, turn right again at the sharp left bend into the Bank and drive to the end of the lane, ignoring the track to the left. This is the Hamlet.  
  • The gate to Lantern Cottage is a few steps along the public footpath on the left.

From London 

  • Take the northbound M40 for Oxford, leaving at Junction 15 (Stratford) for the winding A46 South. You will pass Stratford and signposts to Alcester and come out on to a dual carriageway, which is still the A46 (look out for the petrol station opposite).
  • Follow the sign to Bidford (left). Drive on and then take the first exit at the next roundabout, signposted Bidford (the B439). At the village roundabout, take the third exit signposted Bidford (the B4085), going over the bridge.

From the North

  • Take the eastbound M42, leaving at the Evesham exit (A435). Stay on the A435, as it winds through Portway, Mappleborough Green and Studley, bypassing Alcester. Mind the speed cameras.
  • At the junction with the A46 - a roundabout with a petrol station - take the A46 signposted Bidford and Evesham.
  • Take the first exit at the next roundabout (B439). At the village roundabout, take the third exit (the B4085), going over the bridge.
  • Turn right into Marlcliff at the first crossroads. In Marlcliff, turn right again at the sharp left bend into the Bank, and drive to the end of the lane, ignoring the track to the left. This is the Hamlet.

You can park in the lane. First come, first served, but not a problem.
